Chicago Poems and Cornhuskers. In October, 1912, "Poetry", a magazine scarcely larger than a man's hand, began appearing in Chicago. The editor was Harriet Monroe. She was handed a little batch of handwritten sheets of poetry. A man named Carl Sandburg had written them. A great conviction of "beauty and power" swept over here and in the March, 1914 number they appeared, starting with "Chicago".
