Viola French was born in Kentucky in 1896 and died in Laguna Hills in 1978. She worked as a Commercial Artist (now known as Graphic Designer) in the early 20th Century, producing art instruction books in California. While French's book on how to draw children is readily available, her books on fashion drawing are very rare.
