Small but very well made. Made in Germany in the 1950s.
Before the households in Hamburg received running water from pipes, water could only be picked up at wells in the 1700s. THere were people earning water through carrying waters to the households. One of them was a famous man named Hans Hummel. His real name was Johann Heinrich Bentz, but he had moved into the former apartment of a popular soldier named Hummel. This Hummel was a grumpy man and the kids teased him bu shouting "Hummel Hummel!" He responded by saying "Mors! Mors!" (on the back of the base the figurine is the word "Mors" engraved) translates something like "kiss my **S!"
Kind of funny how little figurines of this man are made over 200 years later! And kind of funny how much effort there is put into the making of some of these figurines.
Anyway, in spite of its humourous history, this figurine is a little, very detailed work of art!
This metal figurine is in great condition! No damages!
Height: 8 cm. / 3.1"
