Vintage Ireland Royal Tara Fine Bone China Jewelry Dish

This beautiful little tea plate was made by Royal Tara and produced in Galway in the Republic of Ireland. In 1954, Royal Terra purchased Mervue House, ancestral home of the Joyces, from Galway Corporation. In 1955, a factory to produce china from raw clay was built to the rear of Mervue House and was officially opened by Seán Lemass, Tánaiste in November of that year. This little plate is thought to have been produced in the 1950’s, but may be from the 70’s or 80’s. Royal Terra closed its doors for good in 2003, making any existing China a rare find. This beautiful vintage plate has a small chip around its gold rim (see photos). Otherwise, is in wonderful condition and would make a beautiful jewellery plate!
