This is a miniature version of a Braciere (brazier) it was a tool that was used for heating and cooking in the old days in Italy.
Vintage from the 70's, my mom bought it on a trip to Italy
A footed braciere with a mix of copper and brass. Ornate with serpent handles. Shows patina due to age. A very charming piece to add to a collection.
Diameter 7 inches
Height 3.5 inches
A Braciere is typically an ancient-looking copper pan set into a wider wooden base, many recall their mothers placing the braciere full of hot coals from the home's fireplace into the middle of the room so all members of the family could sit around warming their feet on a cold winter's evening. They would also roast sausages, chestnuts and other food items while warming themselves.
