Vintage Japanese Kokeshi doll, Creative Sosaku wooden Doll by Waichi Ishida

Two Japanese wooden Kokeshi dolls, both marked underneath by the maker Waichi Ishida. Both depicting sweet smiling girls in kimono, one with a striped ball, the other with a floral parasol. They both have a touch of wear to their surface, but remain oh so charming. They are about the same height at 4.5 inches tall (12 cm) Perfect as a birthday gift, housewarming present or simply "because". Kokeshi are Japanese wooden dolls that have been crafted for more than 150 years as a toy for children, originating from the northeastern region of Japan.
