cardinals_picks yes it takes one regular lightbulb. it's just a piece that attaches to the ceiling as in any room with a ceiling fixture. but you could convert to a swag lamp by putting in a long cord and removing the small piece. I'll try to take a picture

cardinals_picks I added a few pictures. the cord in it is a heavy swag cord but you can cut it to any length. the current cord is about 48" long
