Vintage Mason's Ironstone "Friarswood" Sugar Bowl

A beautiful square, or diamond, shaped lidded sugar bowl from the "Friarswood" pattern by Mason's Patent Ironstone of Stoke-on-Trent, England. The lid, including the knob, carries the main pattern of colourful flowers and leaves that is repeated in a lesser way on the top edge of the rim, under which there is a raised pattern of Oak leaves and acorns on just about every surface including the foot; the handles, which are on opposite corners of the "diamond" are finished with gold and brown stripes.
