Vintage Metal Amulet Box Pendant

This square vintage pendant is a bit mysterious but to the best of my knowledge and research abilities, it is a South-Asian tribal amulet box pendant (sometimes called a ta'wiz"). I'm relying on the wisdom of the crowd here, but what I can tell you is that it has an opening in the top for a cord or chain, it has an open square in the back, maybe for holding something, and has 4 jingling bells on the bottom. It may have carried scrolls of protective prayers or herbs meant to guard the wearer. The bells are meant to ward off evil spirits with sound. There is a distressed wear throughout and, to be clear, there is no cord or chain - just the pendant. If you know more about this piece, I'd love to hear it!
