Vintage Mixed Metal & Bakelite/Catalin Necklace Art Deco/Modernist Early Plastic

Vintage artisan necklace with bakelite/catalin plastic. The pendant is made of copper, brass and steel and the design encorporates two pieces of butterscotch and black micarta, which is a hybrid material combining phenol plastic and fabric. The black piece produced a reaction to ammonia polish and both the black and butterscotch piece smell of chemicals when run under hot water. I am unable to date the piece with certainty but it has a wonderful art deco look that is reminiscent of the bauhaus and suprematism movements of the early 20th century. Very good vintage condition, there is some tarnish and patina spots on the metal and the bakelite has some wear. The brass plating on the chain is partially worn off, especially at the back where it makes contact with the neck of the wearer. The chain closure is stuck closed but it is so long that it can easily go over the head to put it on. The pendant is 3 1/4" × 2 1/8" and the chain is app 36"
