🍁Vintage Mr. Gilbert Brown & White Check Dress

This vintage dress by Mr. Gilbert Montreal features a brown and white check pattern (if the checks were scritchy and a little distressed). The dress has a v neckline with a 3-button front (though the top button is a fakie), short sleeves, and a defined waist. The hem falls around the knee. There is no material listing fabric content, but my best guess would be somewhere in the cotton blend family as it is sturdy but breathable with an organic feel. There is a long zipper in the back for dressing. The fit of the dress is comfortable and though it isn't my size, when I tried it on, the proportions and construction felt really nice overall. The dress has normal vintage wear and might benefit from an additional stitch in the maker's tag. I fixed the hem where it had come undone and there was some yellowing under the arms that I believe I've taken care of as well. There are no issues that affect wearability. I can't confirm if this piece was made in Canada, but Mr. Gilbert was a Canadian-born designer operating between 1949 and 1969.
