...1950s silver tone indigenous mens accessory
A wonderful vintage Native American Navajo Heishi stone and shell wide cuff bracelet. It contains rows of hand cut impeccable brown stone and white shell heishi in a zig zag pattern, interspersed with small green heishi - which are likely lapis lazuli or turquoise. They are all beautifully placed and are all there. The cuff is unmarked for a material or maker but looks very much handmade. The metal material is a silver toned alloy. It is quite hard, tests negative for silver and does not seem to tarnish. Dating ca 1950 - 1960s, this wide cuff bracelet is best suited for a wider wrist due to the larger gap.
Condition: In beautiful condition. All heishi are there and without damage (other than superficial and age related), the wide metal cuff in good shape. With a touch of tarnishing to the corners and small signs of age and wear.
Size: 2-5/8 inches long x 2-1/4 inches deep. The cuff is 1-3/8 inches (3.5 cm) wide on the silver edges. Wrist width 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) and from end to end 5-3/8 inches (13.7 cm). The gap is 1-5/8 inches wide (4.4 cm)
