A very good plus first edition in a good plus dust jacket. Black cloth, embossed boards, red endpapers. Illustrated throughout with drawings and color photos. 7 3/4 x 9 1/2 inches tall.
According to Google Books, this cookbook includes "more than 2,100 authentic heirloom recipes from regional America." The recipes are organized by region (Northeast, South, Midwest, Mountain/Northern Plains, Southwest and Northwest) and indicate which state they are from. The recipes are accompanied by occasional color photos and line drawings. The cookbook was written by Jean Hewitt, a British-American food writer who worked as an assistant to Craig Claiborne, managed the NYT test kitchen and authored a number of cookbooks. According to Wikipedia, she spent five years travelling around the U.S. collecting recipes for this book!
