Valentino Orlandi Glazed Leather Saddlebag Crossbody 1974, Marche, Italy. Valentino Orlandi founded the homonymous company of bags and accessories in Corridonia (MC). Symbol of the highest Italian creativity. Before they moved to artificial leather, they made bags in genuine leather & enduring quality. Once upon a time they could compete with the best designer brands on the market today using traditional solid metal hardware, vegetable tanned leathers & hand stitching. This is one of those bags. Wipe clean, defect free interior. Cognac colour, solid construction & the ever popular saddlebag style. Originally purchased in the mid 80s in downtown Toronto from a trendy boutique - what is now the Queens Quay. EU Vintage condition. Leather & interior are in exceptional condition showing little to no wear, some wear to hardware as expected, but as a 40yr old bag, it’s very limited. Leather wrapped bag piping in excellent condition showing little to no wear. This is the most important part to keep conditioned in a bag. Within the leather piping is a nylon fibre that if not kept conditioned will shrink/twist/deform & the leather with it which is near impossible to replace and stresses the leather creating wear. $798 in 1988 dollars is over $2000 today.
