Vintage Ornate Jet Portrait Brooch

This vintage brooch is made in a silver tone metal and has a modern locking c pin closure on its back. The back is flat and has two places where it doesn't fully connect to the front. This design would presumably allow air flow. The front of the brooch has great detailing in the silver tone border and in the middle is a bust portrait of a woman carved out of jet. The brooch has tone loss and tone change throughout, as well as marks from wear and time. Please look at the pictures for the best idea of the condition.
