Vintage Rafeal of Canada Brass Necklace

Offered is a vintage signed Rafael of Canada 1970s hand hammered brass Necklace with a central oval pendant of green Murano glass. Over a half century ago the visionary jewelry designer Rafael Alfandary of Toronto created this iconic necklace / choker with a dark emerald green oval cabochon set Murano glass pendant. The hand hammered textured brass band has a beautiful signed stamp on the back. Brass fringe dangles hang from the bottom of the pendant and add a dynamic movement to this piece. Heavy, well made, and in excellent condition, this is a one of a kind piece. Rafael was one of the premier jewelers of Modernist style and sold over a million pieces of his jewelry worldwide in the seventies and eighties. Now deceased, his work is still very popular with artists, musicians and celebrities, in fact the singer Prince wore his jewelry to award ceremonies. Alfandary designs were worn by such celebrities as Margaret Trudeau, Lorne Green, Liberace, Muhammad Ali, Redd Foxx and Paul Anka. His pieces have become true collectibles, emblematic of Toronto’s swinging Seventies scene. Murano glass, brass and kinetic elements are all signatures of his unique designs.
