Vintage Sterling Connemara Marble Cabochon Brooch

This vintage brooch is made of Irish sterling silver and has a modern locking c pin closure. The brooch features a round green Connemara marble cabochon surrounded by ribbon-style openwork, half accented with marcasite. The back of the brooch is stamped SP (maker), Irish Sterling, and also has 3 small square hallmarks. In order, they are (1) a woman seated with a harp ("Hibernia mark"), a symbol for the city of Dublin, (2) a small harp ("Harp crowned"), an Irish symbol often used in silver hallmarks for 92.5%, and (3) a capital Z (date mark) which corresponds to the year 1996 in the Dublin Assay Office's hallmarking system.
