Vintage Susan Davis Seagull Bird Sculpture Figurine

Adorable seagull bird sculpture figurine, from Davies pottery in Cape Code, signed Kaolin Davis, 1994, very original! Kaolin is a soft white clay that's a key ingredient in the production of porcelain and china. It's also used in the manufacturing of rubber, paint, paper, and many other products. The name comes from the Kao-ling hill in China, where it was mined for centuries.  Susan Davis is a ceramic artist based in Cape Cod. One of her works, signed Kaolin Davis, Ceramic Bird, 1995, was sold for $80 at auction in Alexandria, VA. The bird was part of the estate of General Colin L. Powell and was sold to benefit the Colin Powell School at City College of New York and America's Promise Alliance.  Pre-owned vintage condition, overall great, some tiny flea bites at the bottom as seen in the photos, from a non-smoking environment.
