These bowls are hand turned from Thai teak. They have a wider base and slanted sides. Each is unique and has interesting grainline and patterning.
During the mid-1900's old growth teak forests in Thailand were heavily logged. The wood was used to create many mid-century modern homegoods. The unique wood fit very well with the natural materials and Scandinavian design aesthetics popular in the 1960's and '70's. Nowadays, people seek items made of teak as they acknowledge the value of the beautiful material and design.
These look great displayed on a shelf. They are useful as catch-all bowls for keys, coins, and the like. Use them as serving dishes for nuts and tidbits. Keep garnishes and swizzle sticks in them at your tiki bar.
