...jazz musician portrait black and white photography wall art
A wonderful image by a fantastic photographer - William Claxton photographed Cootie Williams in the entrance of the Central Bathroom in Harlem. William Claxton, born 1927 in Pasadena, California is known for his portraits of famous musicians. He travelled, together with the German musicologist Joachim Berendt, throughout the USA for four months and across 24,000 kilometres in order to photograph jazz as a universally American phenomenon. They journeyed, amongst others, to New Orleans, the birthplace of jazz, Los Angeles and Kansas City.
The image is a print, not an original, but of good quality and nicely gallery-style framed in a minimalist silver metal frame with white mat. The print has been sandwiched with the mat and backing board and cannot be removed from the stack. Dates ca early 2000s. With some light scuffing to the frame.
