Just when you think you know the GAP, a vintage piece comes up that totally surprises you. This Y2K-era jacket is stunning. Perfect fit and proportions, buttery soft genuine leather (feels like lambskin), and all the zips, buttons, and buckles you'd expect in a perfectly executed moto jacket. Leather condition is perfect, lining is perfect, great used condition overall. One of the rivets at from the strap at the hem is missing the underside portion, that was the only flaw I could find. The quality of the leather, lining, and cut are on par with what you might buy from Ralph Lauren or Mackage for $1000, although if I'm being picky I would say the hardware feels a little lightweight. This is part of GAP's very collectible Edition line, which was positioned as their premium offering from the days when Banana Republic still sold safari clothing. It was all pretty limited. Materials were elevated, and fits were Y2K chic. Eventually Mickey Drexler shut it down so GAP could focus on the mid-tier and Banana Republic could move upper-mid-tier without internal competition. There isn't much of it out there, but when you do find GAP Edition pieces it can be shocking how good the quality was for a GAP branded piece.
