A vintage crocheted cloche hat, age undetermined, material could be straw but I am unsure. The hat has a wide velvet ribbon and then a small velvet bow and a small satin bow, it looks like someone has used a hot glue gun when it came undone, it can be peeled off and sewn on properly, something I can do if you do not sew, there is a bias tape 21" round and at the end of the hat a stretchy material which creates a roll in the cloche hat.
The Cloche hat has being around since the early 1920s an onward was all the rage up to the 1930s. The choche hat was a fitted hat, fitting like a bell-shaped hat. It apparently came about in 1908 by Caroline Reboux , a milliner , and took off from there. As described the hat fits like a bell and the french word for bell is cloche.
I would love to see the roaring 20s and 30s style of clothes come back and apparently , Cloches are slowly creeping into the upscale stores. A very classy hat that looks good on anyone. Used but in good shape. Check pics!
