Vintage jewelry box 2 pretty flower girls, French brocade ribbon covered trinket

...box, sewing box, romantic keepsake box A delightful French fabric covered box with an image of 2 lovely flowers girls on the lid. The sides of the box have been covered in green and pink brocade ribbon to the sides, and blue and green to the lid. The fabric looks and feels like there is metal thread woven into it. The image on the lid is a print, and it looks like it was glued and smoothed onto the wooden base of the box before edging it with a slim metallic trim. There is some wear and spotting to the image, but overall it is still beautiful with lots of detail and contrast - and a touch of pink hand painted to the flowers. The lock front is shiny (likely a later replacement) and there looks to be no inner working for the lock. The box closes nice and flush, but will not lock. The inside is covered with a gold pebble patterned paper. The exact age and maker are unknown (estimated French, ca 1910 - 1940s) This box would be perfect as a jewelry box, or keepsake box, or even as a small sewing box. Size: 14 x 14 x 5.7 cm
