Vintage sterling and amethyst chime-like earrings

I'm not sure of the stone or glass in these earrings. It looks like amethyst but I notice that it can look purple or deep blue depending on the background and the light. I'm also not sure of provenance, but I would guess Mexico. Very pretty, but not heavy or noisy. They measure about 2-1/2 inches long, not including the hook. Great condition! (p)
