A gorgeous collectible item with great patina. This antique press was used to mold butter in the early 19th century. It is referred to as "treen" or "treenware" which means household utensils made entirely of wood.
This mold is made from either maple or pine, and is very sturdy. It has two parts: a frame, and a press on a handle.
The wood has not been refinished or waxed, it is original condition. The are parallel lines/grooves in the plunger to give a small decorative flourish on the butter pat. There are three wide stripes interspersed with three grooves.
This item is in very good vintage condition. Definite wear -- please take a good review of the photos. Some staining. Please zoom in on the pictures as they are part of the description
