Lego had neglected to renew their patent that year, so Tyco swooped in and quickly brought their own version of building toy that was the exact size and shape as well as same quality. Lego sued Tyco over the comparison advertising that named them and showed their product. The lawsuit cost Tyco 3million dollars but they sold $20 million worth of Super Blocks.
