Vintage Crombie Seal Skin Wool Top Coat

Vintage Crombie Seal Skin coat made for Eaton’s of Canada. The material is loomed in Scotland. There is no size tag but please see flat measurements below. It is an elegant dark grey, single breasted button front with side slip pockets. Partially lined with one interior chest pocket. Crombie (a long-established Scottish maker) often used the term “seal skin” in the mid-20th century as a marketing name for a luxurious wool fabric that had a very short, glossy nap — somewhat like the sheen of real seal fur. It’s a type of melton or beaver-finish wool cloth, dense and smooth, used for high-end overcoats. Although not visible, there are a few small moth evidence, see last photo. Priced accordingly.
