Vintage/antique Whiting & Davis mesh micro purse

This chain mesh bag was made by iconic American brand Whiting & Davis in the late 1940s or early 1950s. Whiting and Davis is well-known for their expertise with mesh, making hard metals feel and look like diaphanous fabric- think about the slinky mesh tops and dresses popular during the disco era. This bag is highly collectable and timeless, and I love how it also touches on the current "micro bag" trend. (Sometimes, all you need is a lipstick.) I love the idea of attaching this to a chain as well. It can also be used as a change purse or a cigarette case. It has an ornate die-cute frame, with a kiss lock closure, and is lined on the interior. Made in the USA and measures 4” high × 4” wide at bottom. Great vintage condition.
