Vtg 80s Embossed Leather Ankle Boots

I bought these with high hopes they would fit me. They are marked as 39 on the bottom and fit around a modern 8.5. I wear an 8 and was hoping that they would fit smaller like many vintage styles do but they are a bit too big. These are so cute. A cross between a witch boot and Madonna. The leather on the circle buckle is wearing on each boot. Please see photos.
