Vtg Glass Decanter

Vintage Glass and Metal Decanter with stopper I have no idea what they would have used this for originally... I was thinking vinegar but I could be wrong. Fairly heavy glass, the gasket is a plastic type material and it has a metal ring to seal. The decanter itself is in excellent pre-loved condition, the stopper does have chipping (see photos).
