These vintage handkerchiefs should contain the emblem of the military regiments, naval units, the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Air Force (RAF) and are usually referred to as sweethearts handkerchiefs because they were given as a romantic keepsakes by members of the armed forces to their wives and girlfriends before they left for the front.
