Wade Whimsies, Canadian Nursery Rhyme Series, Red Rose Tea Promotions, Lot of 10 Vintage collectibles circa 1970 to1979. Pre-owned and in excellent condition. Sizes range between 1" and 2". There are 10 Whimsies in this lot: 1. Cat and Fiddle, 2. Hickory Dickory Dock, 3. Little Boy Blue, 4. Little Jack Horner, 5. Little Miss Muffet, 6 Jill, 7. Tom the Piper's Son, 8. Wee Willie, 9. Pied Piper, 10. Old King Cole Wade potteries created 'Whimsies' which became popular and collectable following their retail launch in 1954, and that were available until early 1980's. Of all the many Wade Whimsies figurines that have been produced , probably the most famous, recognizable & still (to this day) very popular series ever made would have to be the Canadian Red Rose Tea Nursery Rhyme Series or “Nurseries”. First introduced in 1971 the theme of this second promotion/series was based upon children’s nursery rhymes & fairy tales & became an instant success, it would run until 1979. All the figurines in this series were hand decorated & some very interesting variations can be found.
