Walt Disney’s The Shaggy Dog – Little Golden Book (Vintage, 1959)

Part dog, part boy, part Cold War suburban mayhem—this Shaggy Dog Little Golden Book brings Disney’s first live-action comedy to the printed page, complete with that iconic mop of a dog front and center. Adapted by Charles Spain Verral and featuring photos and artwork from the 1959 film, it’s a bizarrely wholesome take on body horror for kids. Spine shows noticeable wear and cover has a few scuffs (see photos), but interior pages are clean and solidly bound. A must for collectors of vintage Disney, dog movie lovers, or anyone who appreciates Old English Sheepdogs as chaotic neutral energy.
