Ward E. Herrmann (1936 - 2009) hand carved and painted bird feather pin

Exquisite vintage handmade wood and painted bird feather brooch by American artist and woodcarver, Ward E. Herrmann (1936 - 2009). The pin is hand carved from basswood, a very strong and light wood, and painted by the artist using actual bird feathers as models. Being individually created, no two are exactly alike. Signed in back, “Widgeon Wing Feather by ward e. herrmann”. Includes original box and info. sheet. Pin is pristine. Box exterior shows very light shelf wear. Measurements (approximate): 3 3/8" x 1" Ward E. Herrmann (1936 - 2009), painter and woodcarver, lived in New York's Catskill Mountains for seventy-four years where he was an avid hunter, fisherman, author and photographer.
