kathyfree @maison_de_mode I saw the comment you made on the Chanel jewelry. It looks so real!, I’m really scared to buy a piece of jewelry. If I’m looking at something, would you mind if I tag you to review it for me? You have lovely things, and a impressive retail background. Some of us get ripped off because we can’t tell the difference. I have excellent knowledge of leather goods, but some of this new Chanel knock off is very hard to tell.

theonlynomad @maison_de_mode reporting the knock offs 😊 I enjoy reporting fake antique jewellery (faux jade, faux Ottoman, cameos, Mizpah charms). But I also give information to sellers of real jewellery who might not know the value and history of the item they are selling. 💐

maison_de_mode @theonlynomad oh yes, that pastime lol. I love it! I was an Authenticator as part of my job with a few of the luxury boutiques I worked for. You should read ‘How Luxury Lost it’s Luster’ by Dana Thomas. Fascinating chapter on the dangers of counterfeit items.

theonlynomad @maison_de_mode I’ve worked in finance, diplomacy and law *yawn* but I enjoy antiquing and exploring bazaars the most. I really enjoyed travelling around Turkey and India and learning about traditional jewellery craftsmanship. I ordered Thomas’s book. I am laughing because of the description on Amazon—my classmates would describe me as a Miuccia Prada Marxist. I am genuinely concerned about global and local inequality, but I am also almost always seen with a fancy saffiano leather bag (oops).

maison_de_mode 😂Miuccia Prada Marxist...literally lol'd. Thomas covers her in the book as well. I think there are ways to bridge the gaps in inequality. However, fancy bags are needed on that journey.

mylittlebigboy @maison_de_mode I just read your entire feed here and I’m petrified to buy on Posh. If it’s anything designer I will buy elsewhere where you can speak to live Reps and return. I just purchased a fake David Yurman necklace on e/b/a/y. There are so many counterfeit DY sellers on every site. Would you believe that even the real real has knock off Bottega knot clutches? Where are these experts? The sites don’t care as long as they make money and that is the truth!

I have a million different styles as to where most people where the same thing over and over. I’m sure you’re the same. If you ever want anything I’ll give you my #.
