It became popular for its Neoclassical elegance and matte finish, especially in the Victorian period and again in early 20th-century revivals. The impressed "WEDGWOOD" mark, along with the additional letters (e.g., “G” and “K”), were used consistently in post-1860 Black basalt stoneware. Baluster vase with flared lip and molded foot. Applied relief scenes in the Neoclassical style, featuring draped figures and grapevine motif around neck. Unglazed matte black. Impressed “WEDGWOOD” and additional factory letters, T and G. Workman’s marks - three teardrops marks. No chips or cracks nor repairs. Extremely rare, sought after, valuable and exceptionally collectible. Performs well in international auctions, strong appreciation value.
