As a kid, I never liked dogs. The family dachshunds bit me and peed in my room. I enlisted in the the Navy and then went on to college at Purdue. Life was hard. That all changed when I met Layla, a beautiful white pitbull who mended my soul. I have rescued/rehomed 20+ pitbull type dogs. After adopting my 3rd, I turned my attention to fashion and now rescue and rehome finds from my friends' + family's closets. The Salty Pit is a tribute to my Navy heritage and my favorite dog. I had brain surgery two years ago, with a long road to recovery ahead of me, my bully, Azure, was by my side every step of the way.....(as well as my two cats) I do not think I could of made it without her though, she was a large part of my healing....physically and mentally💖

thesaltypit @nic39 Thank you! It was really unexpected to become a dog person, let alone a pitbull person. I'm very thankful I met that dog at the time of my life when I did. Layla is the white one asleep on the couch like a diva in my everything sold past here sign. She is a total diva dog! Good thing she doesn't have thumbs cause I'm sure she wants a Gucci or LV collar. Haha

nic39 @luvabully3 oh my gosh she is so cute!!! I have 3 and they are definitely my children!! My husband is an officer and he has a police dog that lives with us. He is a big baby also...lol!! Pit bulls get a bad rap! I house sit 2 dogs, 1 a Rottweiler and a Pit Bull and both are great dogs!!☺️💕 I think it's all in how you raise them and train them, but that's my opinion 😀

bamcclosk1 Aren't they the best dogs?? I work at animal emergency hospital and I'd trust a pibble over a chi any day!! My best friend is on her second rescue from our hospital. Both had orthopedic problems and were brought in by rescues. Good luck with your closet sales!! I'll stop by often ♡♡

zardiva1 Awwwww! 😃😍😘 (Re: the last pic) Though I have *minimal* experience w/*bullies* (i.e., mainly the ones I've seen *briefly* @ my local animal rescue's monthly *Low-Cost Shot Clinics* I've volunteered @ for *years* now), I think bigger breeds *in general* get a bad rap 👎☹️ The *1 time* I🚶‍♀️my uncle's Rottie, people were afraid *on sight* even though he was *completely* non-threatening, just casually trotting along & sniffing stuff, haha 😀 (He was actually just a big ol' sweetie *anyway* 😃😘)

My *🐱* happens to be a *sweetie* though, haha 👍😀 And regarding *bullies*, I remember one lady who brought hers to the 💉 clinic and was *shocked/surprised* that I *wasn't automatically* afraid of her 😕 (She was jumping up on me, smiling, wagging her tail and giving me *😘😘😘*, hehe! 😁) Plus, unfortunately, *Pitties* are *outlawed* in my county 👎☹️

thesaltypit @zardiva1 Hahaha! Most cats are sweet! I think my cat is just shady cause he has to keep 3 pitties in line!! He's a bit of a mob boss. Unfortunately there are some places that still have BSL but the # is shrinking. Dogs are dogs. Most aren't inherently dangerous but I've also seen puppies that we've had to put down because the truth is, sometimes no matter the love and proper raising we give, poor breeding wins. Backyard breeding has to stop before people can see dogs as dogs.

sbfashions Plus I'm a huge pitbull fan and rescuer I love defending them. I was there so I'm aligned and in Phoenix where I'm originally from it's impossible to find an apartment if you have one.
