@loopholer Oh sorry I was a little confused about what you meant. Did you mean why don't I buy wholesale? Or why don't I sell my own brand in the wholesale portal? I don't buy wholesale cuz I'm not really interested in merely buying and selling - I simply like to handmake. And why I don't sell wholesale is cuz there's no way I can raise production volume and lower prices (time and cost of materials makes it impossible) >_< And of course outsourcing isn't my gig hehe

I see. Yes I only meant you could mess around as you pleased with your handmade items as "retail" it just states in the rules that you have to be the only one between the manufacturer and you (which is you) handling the item. For instance when I make jewelry and put tags on it its retail and when I buy online from a distributer or even from a brands outlet "free people" for example bc I know you've seen retail of all that stuff. All you do is agree to terms and conditions.

Which are that you're buying from or are the manufacturer or wholesaler, use your own photos unless they've given you permission (some do not do that either😂) and that's about it. Just to some customers like "buyer only" I assume makes them feel like it's more dependable? I mean more "responsibility" but it's just your word which does matter to me but not to all unfortunately 😃

@loopholer Ah! I see yeah technically I can click "NWT Retail" since it's fresh from my hands, but I'd get more traffic from people filtering by NWT (which includes retail as you know) versus people only filtering NWT Retail. Not sure if that makes sense lol

@loopholer Hehe not sure what you meant but outsourcing is kind of the antithesis of what I do. I was in fashion school very briefly because it seemed that the industry defines "success" as having your designs mass produced overseas and distributed globally. It didn't line up with my idea of success.

@loopholer Yes the climate has definitely changed. The idea of "closet" changed to "boutique" and now I think it's more like "warehouse". It used to feel more intimate, like we were visiting each other's houses, going through each other's closets to pass on and recycle what might be otherwise be discarded. I liked the idea of shopping for or rescuing these previously loved items as an alternative to shopping retail. So yeah it used to be more about thrifting but now it's grown way beyond that.

I see. I joined dec but it was after some hard core trauma and I loved posh for that. But now the whole thing has changed. I mean since me. I'm afraid of what could happen actually. Like seems like a lot we talk about bra size our kids you can see our schedule. I know that there have been siccos and idiots on here I know that bc they wanted to talk then-but there are underage girls here and I'm terribly worried about a much more negative thing than destruction of marketplace.

@loopholer Yep I wrote to Posh about my concerns about adding Men's and Kids when I first saw the SU email about it. I originally thought they were going to put out separate apps for them, not lumping it with the women's. Definitely changes things.

Sorry just getting the second. I mean I had men on my page Saturday. They've been there before but man. And a LOT of us got SU approval right before posh fest. I saw a profile that definitely THEY -cuz I'm not the posh police-but have to be to an extent 🙄 need to keep eyes on. And it's coming faster than I thought crazy. Lots of these women have "head in the ground syndrome" about it.

@loopholer Yep before we were just modeling and opening our homes to a sisterhood. Now we're opening it up to 'the hood'. And like you said, it was like that before to an extent but now that's what the platform is all about. What started as a club is now a venue for mass appeal. I'm not saying that exclusivity is necessarily better, but it was nice to have something specialized to a particular taste. Poshmark used to set itself apart but now it's becoming much like everything else...

I am obsessed with foxes!! Love them so much that I am in the process of studying them so that I can open a fox rescue on my property within the next couple of years. There are very few fox rescues and rehabilitation sites for injured or abandoned foxes in my area, yet we have a huge fox population and they .....

are injured quite often by traps, coon dogs, cars, and many fox pups are a ban due to their mother being injured or killed. I already have a few that live on my property. We want to go to Zao Fox village in Japan, but if we can find one close by that'd be great. GA is not far from us (FL) and we do drive through often. Thanks so much for sharing!

But when materials are limited, as they are in this case, it helps narrow things down to what can be done within these limits. I'm sure seeing the stone will give me a better idea but I do have an idea about incorporating a cabochon shaped stone into a men's cuff

I do things in batches and always have projects going. I go nuts if my hands aren't moving. Plus, some of these things were years in the making. I've done some shows too so I have a small stockpile at any given time >_<

@veronikafashion And yeah lnitting takes forever which is why I had to make a sign saying that I probably couldn't continue offering as many knitted items simply because it's not worth the time. It sucks when a buyer pays $31.49 for a $25 item that I get $20 for after Posh's cut, and the yarn costed $10 lol $10 left for me for a week's worth of knitting. Nah thanks lol.

I will grab yarn if i see it at the thrift store, but it is usually too small of an amount. It's funny. I am always worried i won't have yarn when inspiration hits, so i always keep some around. Opposites lol.

@veronikafashion Yeah exactly. Yarn is less a commodity and now more of a luxury. I do scope out and scoop up a deal whenever possible. I do have some yarn on hand, but nothing compared to some other knitters' stashes. I just never have what I need, you know how it goes, so much clothes, nothing to wear = so much yarn, but not the yarn in need for this project!

A factory garment of any measure of quality costs a small fortune. And yet we do not second guess the price as the label has Someone's name upon it. (Myself included as a guilty party) The quality of a fine handmade item is by far superior and I can hope that we as a society find our way back to admiration and appreciation of a truly fine garment and fashion pieces! @fabloot I appreciate that so much. It's tough to compete with the low prices of mass disposable fashion. But being a rare bird on this platform is kind of nice, especially when people like you come around, people who think about where and how the things in our lives are made. There's always been a bold line between craftsmen and the businesspeople who promote their work. Trying to wear both hats put me in cognitive dissonance. But it's a fun challenge and a reward in itself.

The thorn about fashion for me is the idea that people will buy things not for the inherent quality or characteristics of an item, but for an arbitrary image associated with it. So the fashion industry is about manipulating willfully ignorant buyers. This dumbing-down makes me sad. I try to present my things in its purest, most honest form as best I can

Yes the buckles that work have magnetic closures and they function. I wouldn’t even know where to find the parts to fix the one broken one! 🤣🤣
