If you pull them up high, the pockets on the bum sit too high. Elastic back half of the waistband keeps these tomboyish casual pants nice and comfy. They are a hard fit if you are VERY curvy, since they are kinda straighter cut. Not see through, per se, but you can't wear Hello Kitty underwear and keep it a secret either.
