Japanese Oshie Art – “Year of the Snake” A traditional Japanese “oshie” (押絵) textile/paper art, made by layering and lightly padding small pieces of “washi” paper for a soft 3D effect. Featuring a white snake, considered a divine messenger bringing wealth and good fortune, embracing a legendary wish-fulfilling jewel. The character 宝 is inscribed on the golden jewel, symbolizing blessings, wisdom, and prosperity. Snake zodiac years: 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, 2025… Size: 24 × 27cm (9.4” × 10.6”) Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Slight creases on the top/bottom left corners of the board, a tiny pin hole at the centre top, and slight dents on the bottom (see photos).
