Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme
Collection: Pour Homme Archive (between 1984 and 1991)
Composition: Wool (100%), (with silk tipping)
This archival tie comes from one of the very early seasons of Yohji Yamamoto's Pour Homme collection. The tie is uses a tightly woven wool with a textured knit, with a highest-quality silk for the tipping (the fabric on the back of the tie). The wool is incredibly soft with a fantastic drape. It can be dated between Spring/Summer 1984 and Autumn/Winter 1991 based on the specific curvature in the signature on the label, among other indicators. Similar ties can be found in the runway looks from seasons such as Autumn/Winter 1988-1989, for example (see photo). Earth tones like this rust or clay colour are characteristic of many of Yohji's earliest Pour Homme collections, and make a regular re-appearance in modern collections (see for example AW23 and AW22 for recent examples).
