Scavo Technique: The term "Scavo" means "excavated" in Italian and refers to a Murano glass technique that imitates the textured appearance of ancient objects found in archaeological excavations. This effect is achieved by dispersing a mixture of powders on the glass surface during production and then heating the item.
Attribution: This style of glass, with its distinctive texture and form, is often attributed to Seguso Vetri d'Arte, a renowned glass studio on the island of Murano, Italy.
Historical Context: While the Scavo technique was invented by Alfredo Barbini and Cenedese in the 1950s, it was later adopted by Seguso Vetri d'Arte in the 1970s, with designs by Giovanni Patrini.
Appearance: The pitcher features a matte, textured finish that gives it an aged, excavated look, often in colors like the yellow seen in the image.
Excellent Vintage Condition. Some inclusions can be seen at base. Those imperfections are quite normal and due to manufacture.
