This jar arrived in great condition. I think it is totally airtight because I had to pry the lid off using a wood ruler. I think it had gone thru significant temperature changes in transit that caused it to suck a vacuum. It was challenging but I got the lid off and emptied out the styro peanuts. All of which speaks to the condition of the plastic under-lid. I am very pleased and know to keep it room temp! Thank you for selling it to me.
