1940s Coro Sterling Silver Vermeil Bow Brooch with Purple Gem

Most people associate Coro with quality vintage costume jewelry. However, they also offered a high-end range, crafted in premium materials like sterling silver, vermeil, and fine European crystals. This large, 1940s bow-shaped brooch is vermeil: the piece is constructed of sterling silver and washed with a layer of gold. Over time, some of the gold wash has rubbed off, but it still has a pleasing warmth and patina. In the centre is an emerald-cut glass jewel, which has no damage. Signed and marked “silver” on the reverse. Approx. 3” long and 2” wide.
