My prices are low, not because of low quality but because I love what I do, I love repeat buyers, and I'm helping to lessen the load of stuff on the earth.
I'm sending lovely, quality items back into the ethos for a second life:)

I love what I do;) Absolutely ADORE hunting for perfect (or near perfect and then I Up-cycle and I wear them,) clothing and things that are going to give my customers great deals! I'm also on Etsy with other things... not clothing. But this is my LOVE! I was raised a tomboy, but I learned that pretty dresses, dirty-hot grunge and punk, rave costumes, and all kinds of things to put on my canvas of a body were the most fun and self-expressive things in the world!Thank you for looking!
notjustasparrow
I like that I can kinda just type thoughts here;) I sell my clothes as reasonably as I can because I want everyone to see beautiful clothes instead of just 'not brand new' clothing. AND because I want everyone to have a chance to look the way they want in this life. Maybe a little idealistic, but I LOVE other people's clothing! It's an awesome passion to have;)
notjustasparrow
Often, I will find a hole or a tear in a shirt or something and so I'll patch, stitch, or put in some mending stitches and then I wear it;) I love the work I put into my clothing;) I've considered selling it, but I haven't yet. I need to figure out how to market beautifully altered clothing;) But a tiny hole in a t-shirt doesn't make it trash. And a gorgeous piece of fabric patching a rip in my jeans makes them even more precious;) It's all in how you create yourself. Wear whatever you want;)

@notjustasparrow I love this too. Its my passion. My prices are also ultra low not because of the lack of quality but because I have the ability to find great deals to pass on. I hope that one day I can survive off this passion alone instead of going to a job 5 days a week. One day!! Im going to keep on truckin! I admire that you stray away from brand new and upcycle. The environment needs us! Thanks for sharing!💕💕💕
notjustasparrow
@jessica_jecker I'm so glad that you shared too!!! All I can say is a huge HECK YESSSSS! I love your closet, btw! And thank you;) Sometimes I need to see the passion of others to remind me of my own;)

Why do people post items with no listed condition? And they say to carefully inspect the photos and ask questions. I don't have time to go through each item I'm interested in and contact the seller who may, like me, have a life outside of Posh. Please include details if there are any rips, stains, tears, snags, tiny holes, discoloration, and etc. And if it's perfect, then say so. But I literally saw a listing today that said 'Blue shirt' in the description. That was it.

@cupiedoll25 Thank you! And ty for the early morning shares!

Lol... someone said my prices were weirdly low. I couldn't tell if they were angry, snide, or just wondering what I was thinking... It was an odd message;) I had a friend look in my closet and she's someone who's helped me prep the clothing for shipment, and she's checked in my Posh orders... and tried them on... LOL!
notjustasparrow
And to some degree, she saw what they were talking about. I even deconstruct and reuse material from items that end up with holes, tears, and etc. So... pricing considerations because it seems like people are actually PUT OFF by the low prices, which is INSANE, but I get it. It looks undesirable with a low price... like there's a quality issue.
notjustasparrow
When I list an item, I look at the state of the item first. As I'm prepping, which includes laundering per tag instructions, I inspect seams, hold things in different lights to make sure I'm not missing any discoloration or to at least be able to note it in the listing, I EVEN SNIFF the clothing to make sure that there are lingering body odors in the clothing. Sometimes, there is a little perfume that I can't get out of garments that contain Nylon.
notjustasparrow
And that should read *ARE NOT lingering body odors.*
notjustasparrow
If all that checks out, I look at buttons, see if something needs to be re-attached. I do sew the occasional button back on as long as I have the original. If not, I note in the listing. After that, lint brushing with a second look over, as well as during any steaming. I steam because occasionally something gets a little smushed while on the rack or in the closet.
notjustasparrow
Ok... so now we're at usage state. Is it soft from wear? Roughed up in spots but not pilling? Is there the beginnings of pilling? Fading? Stretching? All of these reduce the price as well as other considerations.
notjustasparrow
And then, what is the item? There are some t-shirts that I'll price over $8, but not too many. And I'm just flat out reluctant to list a tank top... maybe a pre-bundle/one-price for a few or something. That's just an example. I know what I would pay for what, and I am a CLEARANCE, OCD FANATIC, so you can imagine when I find a stain. Even tiny marks get mentioned and any kind of size on them gets them voted out of the closet.
notjustasparrow
I don't mind small marks and I'll wear whatever it is if I can't completely remove the mark, but I don't list thinks that I wouldn't offer my best friend. Ok... so NOW WE ARRIVE AT the brand consideration. (And please keep in mind that this is how my mind, my upbringing and priorities play into MY prices. Everyone has their own 'world' to manage and I totally respect and admire that.)
notjustasparrow
So brand... There are a few brands that I will acknowledge should be priced a little higher because of their attention to detail, quality of make, and maybe desirability, but just because a lot of people want something doesn't necessarily mean that it should cost a shite-ton more. That's brainwashed consumerism. I'm not about that.
notjustasparrow
But there are brands who do INTERESTING things and I love them. I'm not usually into the 'thing' that everyone else is doing... it's like I'm either two eras behind or maybe... just maybe, one or two ahead because of where I grew up and where I live now. It's like Clothing Time Zones... lol! New York and Chicago are AMAZING and 'right there' on the edge of what is going on.
notjustasparrow
As a painter/maker/seamstress/maker/designer, I tend to look for dramatic lines that appeal to me... Like corduroy, olive green, extremely wide leg trousers that make me look short (I'm 5'9"...) as well as draw attention to the fact that I'm standing in a 'puddle' of pants... I know... I'm odd.
notjustasparrow
I say that because the interesting brands are the ones I want, and yes. They are the ones who can afford to risk a different cut. A genius line. A strange color. LOVE! So that's where brand considerations tend to come in. :) They don't jack up my prices, but they do influence them. I'm more concerned that I have quality, interest, variety, and that I'm offering clothing with a LOT of life left in them, if not ALL OF IT left in them.
notjustasparrow
I also LOVE LOVE LOVE what I do, and I'm one of those people who, at Christmas, will be as happy with a thrifted gift with a story or that is the perfect fit for me;) as someone who just got a diamond ring... ok, so I don't want diamond rings... Just buy me the odd, vintage, ceramic dog with 'Vegas' written across it's butt and pink feathers on its head. What can I say? I have a 'kitsch' collection;)
notjustasparrow
So please;) Shop my closet, ask questions, bundle away and ask me if I'll accept your offer. ;) I don't ignore lowballs... I know what they are and I get them every once in a while and I will roll my eyes and then think about it. I don't get upset, and I think about how over the moon I'd be if I got something at the price I'm being offered... So I counter with what I can reasonably accept and let it go;)
notjustasparrow
We all want good deals. We're all here, addicted to what we're doing, what we're wearing, and I've been so influenced by the closets I've been shopping. Sellers have become people that I love to chat up;) I do make a little extra cash... and I'm over 80% below original pricing. Most of that cash goes back to Posh, to my yarn stash, hunting more amazing deals, supplies for building miniatures... you know how it goes;) Thanks for reading and have fun!!! XO
indiashea42
Thank you! I keep my prices low, especially in by botique, and especially compared to other sellers, but I almost feel like people don't buy the exact same thing that I'm selling from me, instead they pay more for someone else's because it's like they think they're getting less of the exact same item
notjustasparrow
@indiashea42 I have no idea on that one. I just want everyone to be able to afford what they want. Especially with that shipping charge! And then cover my product cost... I fortunately have time to hunt, but I don't mark up much above that. And I LOVE and can't resist adding in little extras with every order!!!
indiashea42
@notjustasparrow I add in extra gifts as well, and while I was reading all of this, I agreed that my philosophy is not that I am ever going to be able to make myself a millionaire selling clothing on Postmark (cont.)
indiashea42
@notjustasparrow That's never been my goal though. My goal is only to help people that wouldn't otherwise be able to afford that one favorite shirt, or whatever, because it's normally way to expensive. I grew up being bullied and tortured for the clothes I was never going to get,
notjustasparrow
@indiashea42 I'm not out to make a million. Just subsidize my shopping and art supply habit a little... maybe pay my phone bill every once in a while, but usually it goes back into the Posh industry...LOL!
notjustasparrow
@indiashea42 OMG! Ok... so my parents are older... My mum had me when she was 39 and was the child of people who were immigrants (hard life) and ALSO went through the Great Depression (Even Harder...) Gah!!! So my clothing as a kid were like hand-hand-me-downs, garage sale finds, and etc...
indiashea42
@notjustasparrow even as an adult, I see it happen all the time. I don't think that, aside from my handbag addiction, I own any "name brand" item of clothing. I do believe in paying for quality, but not just for a name.
notjustasparrow
@indiashea42 And I got cut off at 15 when I started working. So I really got the sense of the value of a dollar... I still got addicted to retail, repeatedly got into financial trouble and sold stuff to get out of it. And then I committed to NOT BUYING CLOTHES FOR A YEAR. omg. I was shocked at how after a few months, it just seemed like a lot of work to even look at them.
notjustasparrow
@indiashea42 And I still don't buy retail. I just can't. I always shopped Clearance before, but now I can't even do that unless it's like 75% off... I find too much amazing at garage sales, thrift shops, estate sales, and we have a ton of 'rich garage sales' here!!!
indiashea42
@notjustasparrow My parents had me when they were much older as well, and while growing up I understood the logic behind not wasting $ on clothes, but being hurt and missunderstood, and made fun of also had very negative long term effects for me.
notjustasparrow
@indiashea42 I will admit that handbags are a new thing for me. I've never been a shoes/bags girl... but one posher @emilyroseamner changed all that!!! LOL! One good deal on some gorgeous boots and a Hugo Boss handbag and I was hooked. She's my favorite posher of all time and changed my closet tastes...
notjustasparrow
@indiashea42 It sucked while I was young, but it taught me early that I don't have to be liked by everyone and that respect was more important. It kind of prepared me for being a really young retail manager. I knew that if I learned and knew what I was doing, my age didn't matter as much, and they didn't have to like me, but they would eventually respect me.
notjustasparrow
@indiashea42 But yes. I took a hard hit in general via self-esteem, body image, and all kinds of things, but I also find that I'm a lot nicer of a person and that I really don't understand adults that act like kids and can handle them in a way that is so straight forward and keep my composure that they look ridiculous.
notjustasparrow
@indiashea42 I'm a dread-headed girl who looks about 25... and when you're a 40 year old man who's bigger than I am and getting red in the face mad at me over something, or a really decked out rich woman who is losing her cool because she wants something that isn't hers, I usually have no problem smiling, stating the facts, and some big guy will usually jump in and try to rescue me, or it draws a crowd to see the spoiled adult being mean to the respectful kid.
emilyroseamner
@notjustasparrow oh girl your words are beyond encouraging !!! And flattering :):):) I believe poshing is An amazing way to give back to our fellow fashionistas who just want something comfortable and life giving to wear on a daily basis 💋👍👌❤️😍 you are my posh hero!
