That sale price is the equivalent of $38,000 today. This coat is from the 1950s, and it looks like it has been repaired several times- this is reflected in the price. There is also a spot or two where the fur appears to have been worn thin. There are cape straps inside the coat so it can be worn draped over the shoulders- these have been reinforced. The seams where the sleeves join the body of the coat have been resewn. There are also some repairs to the seams in the fur itself. It is in pretty delicate condition but definitely still wearable for a special occasion.
