This Lodenfrey Loden coat (made in Austria) is a traditional single-breasted style and comes down to just above my knee. It is single-breasted, with leather buttons. I am 5’4” and 127 lbs and it is just a tad too big for me since I lost weight. It is in excellent condition and looks like it is brand new. It is missing one button at the collar.
Loden coats are made from loden cloth, which is a thick, soft, and waterproof material made from the coarse, oily wool of mountain sheep. The raw sheep wool is woven in a particular way that makes the loden coat naturally water-repellent and long-lasting.
Loden coats originated in Tyrol in the 16th century, when peasants began hand-weaving them. They were originally worn by Bavarian farmers and hunters to keep them warm in the coldwinters of the Austrian mountains.
Measurements: Pit to pit, 22”; Sleeves, 24”; Top of collar to bottom of coat, 37”.
Original Price: $1,000
