This has been a prized possession of mine. It was gifted to me by a very dear friend and her Japanese fiancee, a Japanese dignitary, as a bridesmaid gift over 40 yrs. ago. It holds many fond memories, but I hate for it to be stored carefully in my closet. Surely someone out there would enjoy this in their boudoir, as an art piece, and as a collector. There are no tags because clearly this item is handsewn and likely dates somewhere before the 30's-1945, as that is when the red lining tradition "momi" stopped altogether. It is likely from the Taisho period (1912-1926). Unfortunately, there is no obi included. It is in very good condition overall and has a small flaw (see photo). Clearly this may be now or approaching "antique" status. The robe is a stunning shade of red with pink/peach blossoms, blues, whites, greens, and a touch of black, a floral & fan pattern made of damask silk and silk crepe throughout. I've priced this comparable to others for sale that I've researched, and placed it on the more reasonable end of the spectrum for affordability. As it is a robe, it should comfortable fit someone XS-M in size. She deserves a good home as she is an art piece to treasure.
