juliana32503 Girl I am so sorry you are going through it! I’m a nurse and was gaslit by the medical community until I finally found the right doctor. Turns out I was one hard sneeze away from being PARALYZED. I began having trouble walking and then one day I just couldn’t pee. Once my doc saw my MRI it was an oh shit moment and I had spine surgery 10 weeks ago. The recovery mentally is so hard. I bought some mascara and I will keep trying to throw you some business whenever I can.

cheekychic77 @juliana32503 oh Juliana I’m so sorry for all you’ve endured! Thank you for taking the time to read about the hell im going through. I live in a sling now and my neck (which was always straight) is now curving backwards compensating for the bones this ahole doctor removed too much of. I literally can’t hold myself up for long periods of time now. And no doctor wants to help me now w/malpractice. When do you start PT? May I ask what was wrong w/your spine?

juliana32503 @cheekychic77 You are so sweet! I was born with loridosis (the opposite of scoliosis so my neck is only straight when looking straight up) and I’d always had neck pain but just ignored it when injections and meds didn’t help. I’ve been in the medical field for 20 years which has not helped. I’ve lifted patients and caught fainting people way too much. I actually hurt it super bad playing with my friend’s 2 year old in March. That’s when my hands started going numb and I had trouble walking.

juliana32503 @cheekychic77 turns out the spine controls everything from smooth muscle it takes to urinate to control of the feet and hands. My right food also swelled up huge with 4+ pitting edema. My primary didn’t take me seriously and sent me home with nothing but a blood pressure log. Hey! Why was my bp high!? PAIN. When she finally ordered an MRI she had an oh shi* moment and got me in with a pain doc the next day.

juliana32503 The pain doctor called her in and made her apologize to me. He said I won’t touch you because I’m not qualified so he called up his neurosurgeon buddy. They presented my case in front of 10 doctors because it was so rare. So I’m a case study medical freak who now has screws, plates, and a cadaver bone in my neck. Insurance argued over the bone and said I needed cheaper metal instead. The cost was a $400 difference. I said order that bone!!! I feel a lot better, but still in pain at night.

juliana32503 @cheekychic77 I just feel for you so much and wish I could go to every doctors appointment with you because as awful as it sounds I know how to talk to doctors and usually get my way in the end. It is unfair that you are paying a medical professional to gaslight you and make you feel hopeless. Not to mention the PTSD after you do get help. I should feel thankful, but I just feel mad.

juliana32503 @cheekychic77 I do have some relief, but it will take a year for all the hardware to really settle in. I wish I could help you find a lawyer to take your case. Sadly doctors who are reckless rarely get any kind of slap on the wrist unless they unalive someone. Even then they are usually let go without charges. I have so many doctors I love, but I have worked with ones who I reported, called ethics hotline, and one even had to go to anger management because of me.

cheekychic77 @juliana32503 Did you get that apology?! I hope your PCP pissed herself 😂 How did you get a team of docs? I’m a medical anomaly - my body won’t stop making excessive scar tissue that ossifies into bone. I hate insurance so much. $400 difference! I used to have private insurance & was never taken seriously. I get Medicaid & I start getting taken seriously. Wtf? Now I’m scared of losing my insurance because I can’t work let alone have a life. The stress is never ending 😭

juliana32503 @cheekychic77 and meanwhile the only thing you should be doing is recovering! Medicaid is a guaranteed payment and is actually less risky for them than private insurance. I used to have military insurance and same thing. I got whatever I needed. It makes me furious. I have no idea why this doc took an interest in me. I don’t know if he does shoulders, but his name is Nolan Wetzell at UC Health Highlands Ranch Denver, Co area.

cheekychic77 @juliana32503 I can’t even afford an attorney or find one on contingency. I lost my eldest brother to medical negligence- he broke his leg & after surgery he told his surgeon THREE TIMES he feared he was forming a blood clot. Doc brushed him off saying he was too young (he was 32) & had “great bones bc he played football.” My brother died in front of me & my parents from a DVT turned PE.

cheekychic77 @juliana32503 We took the doc to court but jury found him not guilty bc my brother “was in dental school & should’ve known better.” HE DID. Our judicial system is no better than our medical. Thank you for wanting to be there for me. I’ve even gone to out of network doctors but they don’t want to touch me now. Last doc said the damage is too extensive and walked out. I have no idea who to turn to now since shoulder blades are like “no man’s land.”

cheekychic77 @juliana32503 I’m limited in who I can see on Medicaid. I had to exhaust ALL specialists in-network to get to UCLA & one other doctor…only for him to walk out after viewing only 1 out of 4 MRIs he ordered. Like I fought my insurance so hard to see him for nothing. I can’t travel, I have barely any money & posh is painfully slow. If I find a doc that can guarantee a solution, I’d set up a gofundme but my research thus far has resulted in none. Idk why no one really acknowledges shoulder blades.
