@dudebuyssells what is the difference between this one that says sq and the other one! this is one i would be interested in and is reminiscent of the beverly hills polo club one I was mentioning. looks very similar except there would be a horse above the 6 and no day, just date box where the number 3 would be.

@atelierlumiere The SQ was mainly used for branding from the 1970’s-1990’s, but implied that it was a “Super Quartz” and accurate down to +/- 5 seconds. There’s serious debate as to whether it was just branding or there was actual legitimacy to it. SQ’s can be harder to find and all have the special gold SQ branding logo on the dial. This and the Beverly that you like are known as Presidential style watches. Great choices!

@atelierlumiere Truly my pleasure! I’m obsessed with Seikos haha, so I have studied them a ton. They are fantastic watches that are very well built and last a lifetime.

@dudebuyssells I am barely learning about watches but when i read on forums they say they prefer seikos over something like a michelle for women watches! and more than once seiko came up. would seikos be like the toyotas and hondas of watches? lol Trying to understand hahah

@atelierlumiere It’s always the right time to get into watches haha! Yes, Seikos are extremely reliable with easy to source parts, even for their vintage watches. Seiko makes Lorus, Pulsar, and tons of others. Their movements are in many models of Fossils, Anne Kleins, Relics, Bulovas and other brands. There are more pre-1990’s Seikos still running today than any other brands out there. Michele is a decent brand (trying to be luxury brand), but it is owned by Fossil and many use Seiko movements.

@dudebuyssells woah! so neat! yes haha this sounds exactly like what car people tell me for toyotas and hondas and sourcing parts! ahahah woah! one more question- with the way technology has developed over the years, why haven’t they come up with more scratch resistant glass?

@atelierlumiere That’s a great question, but it comes down to cost. Many watch makers use mineral crystals, but higher end watches use Hardlex (many Seikos) or higher toughness is sapphire. When I can source it, I use Sapphire crystals to replace the watch crystals in the watches that I sell. They look nicer and hold up much longer. The technology is out there to make a scratch proof watch crystal, but it’s crazy expensive and they can’t make money off of you replacing scratched up crystals haha
